What What we do at action legal process

Action Legal primarily provides service of process for landlord/tenant, collections and domestic cases, but can provide all of your process serving needs in the Kansas City metro and St. Joseph areas.
All rates are the same for the following Missouri counties: Jackson, Buchanan, Andrew, Platte, Clay, Cass; as well as Kansas counties of Wyandotte and Johnson.

Action Legal can also serve in other areas with a mileage fee.

Competitive Prices / Superior Service

Our process service rates for volume customers of regularly 10 serves per week or more is only $45 per serve. In order to keep our rates low, we bill monthly. When we do not have to work on accounts receivables, we can spend more time in the field to complete your jobs.

Upon completion of your serve, we will email you a notarized affidavit for you to file with the court.

How action legal Process is different

In our 28 years of process serving, attorneys tell us their number one complaint with their current process server is lack of communication. Not only is our owner, Ron Rugen, easily reachable by email and phone, we provide you LIVE email status reports of every serve while we are at the location.

When Action Legal receives a job, we enter it into a database so the server has it in his secured app to document observations and take photo when making service attempts. This information is immediately emailed to your office so you do not have to wonder what is happening with your serves.

You can also, at any time, go to our website and look at all of your pending serves and what the status is. In addition, When we print the service sheet for our servers, each is color coded based on the court date, so we won’t miss your deadlines.

We also have an app compatible with Apple or Android devices so you can promptly check service status on your time schedule.

As a preferred volume customer, you can conveniently just email us your documents to send out for service.

**Skip tracing** is the process of locating a person whose whereabouts are unknown, often used in **process serving**, debt collection, or legal investigations. It involves gathering and analyzing information from various sources to track down an individual, typically someone who has "skipped" town or is deliberately avoiding contact.

How Skip Tracing Works

Professional skip tracers use a combination of public records, databases, and investigative techniques to find a person’s current address, phone number, or other contact details. Common methods include:

- **Public Records**: Accessing court records, property records, voter registrations, or marriage/divorce records.

- **Databases**: Utilizing specialized software or paid services like LexisNexis, Accurint, or TLOxp to gather data on addresses, phone numbers, or financial activity.

- **Social Media and Online Activity**: Analyzing social media profiles, online directories, or public posts for clues about a person’s location.

- **Interviews and Fieldwork**: Contacting relatives, neighbors, or employers to gather leads, often discreetly.

- **Credit Reports and Financial Data**: Reviewing credit headers (non-financial parts of credit reports) for recent addresses or contact information, where legally permissible.

Why Skip Tracing is Used in Process Serving

In **process serving**, skip tracing is critical when the intended recipient of legal documents (e.g., summons, subpoenas) is difficult to locate. This could be due to:

- Moving without updating contact information.

- Intentionally evading service to avoid legal proceedings.

- Errors in provided address or contact details.

A skilled process server uses skip tracing to ensure legal documents are delivered to the right person, preventing delays or dismissals in court cases.

Example Scenario
Suppose a process server needs to serve divorce papers but the recipient has moved without leaving a forwarding address. The skip tracer might:

1. Check public records for recent property transactions or utility registrations.

2. Search social media for location-based posts or check-ins.

3. Use a database to find updated phone numbers or addresses linked to the individual.

4. Contact known associates or visit last-known addresses to gather leads.

Legal and Ethical Considerations

Skip tracing must comply with privacy laws, such as the **Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA)** and the **Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA)**, which restrict access to certain personal data. Professional skip tracers ensure their methods are legal and ethical, avoiding harassment or unauthorized data access.

Why It Matters
Effective skip tracing saves time, reduces costs, and ensures legal processes move forward smoothly. For process serving, it’s often the key to successfully delivering documents to elusive individuals, maintaining the integrity of legal proceedings.
